Candlelight Vigil & Purple Tie Awards

Glendale, CA -- In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Glendale Commission on the Status of Women and YWCA Glendale and Pasadena will hold its Annual Candlelight Vigil and 6th Annual Purple Tie Awards on the steps of Glendale City Hall on October 16th at 6:30PM.

The event will bring together community partners and advocates to center the voices of survivors, honor those who have lost their lives, and recognize men in our community who are working to end domestic violence and gender-based violence.

This year’s honorees include Glendale Police Department’s Sergeant Vahe Abramyan and Senator Anthony J. Portantino. The awards presentation will include opening remarks by Glendale Mayor Elen Asatryan, domestic violence survivor stories, ending with a candle lighting ceremony led by faith leader Rev. Cassie.
