Housing Navigation

Survivors of domestic violence face the same economic barriers that challenge so many low-income people in Glendale and Pasadena: the lack of affordable housing, limited safety options, unemployment, lack of available living wage jobs, lack of transportation, and limited child care options. More than 50% of our clients receiving non-residential services are unemployed or underemployed. As a result, many survivors face the impossible choice between staying with/returning to their abusers or becoming homeless.

In collaboration with landlords and property managers throughout Los Angeles County, YWCA Glendale and Pasadena provides various services to support each participant's success. These services may include workshops, housing identification, advocacy, connections to supportive services, financial assistance, and tenant education.

If you are a survivor of domestic violence who is experiencing homelessness or housing issues, please call 1-888-999-7511 today.

Children are the unintentional, often times, forgotten victims of domestic violence.

Our Children’s Program is designed to help children recover from domestic violence by promoting healthy growth and development, non-violent social skills, and positive learning experiences in a safe, supportive setting. Tailored support for children and teens aged 0-18 years consists of age-appropriate activities, such as arts and crafts, team-building games, after-school tutoring, and computer skills.

We offer this program to children of current YWCA Glendale and Pasadena Domestic Violence Program participants. This is in support of our other comprehensive services for domestic violence survivors, such as shelter, legal advocacy, and counseling.

Our Community

Community Climate Survey on Domestic Violence

In March 2018, YWCA Glendale and Pasadena (formerly YWCA Glendale) distributed a 23-question survey to the Glendale community in order to better understand our community’s current viewpoints and experiences related to domestic violence. We assessed knowledge of domestic violence, attitudes/biases towards domestic violence, violence exposure, bystander efficacy, and community involvement. 76 people responded.
